We are a family farm located in the Hudson Valley region of New York State. Our farming venture started in 2002, a couple of years after we purchased the 90 acre property from the Funk family (hence the name of our farm!). It seemed wasteful to not do something with the beautiful land and we began to research options for various types of livestock, as well as some types of crops. We were not interested in intensive, modern farming methods, but rather in a more natural approach, utilizing most of our fields as pasture.
As we evaluated numerous breeds of animals we became convinced that we wanted to focus on heritage breeds rather than on breeds that have been developed or highly modified by humans.
